High-quality UK CLIFF jack sockets. The CLIFF® range of S4 Jack Sockets incorporates patented wiping action contacts to ensure clean contact surfaces with each operation. All models consist of a durable premium quality nylon body with solid Ni-Ag alloy contacts for superior performance. Cliff Electronic Components Limited was founded in 1977 to supply the music industry with connectors since 1977. They have greatly expanded their products and services to become a high quality supplier to most professional and industrial markets. The only time we might substitute a Cliff jack is if they do not offer what we need. Then and only then we will use Nuetrik, which is as fine a jack as Cliff is.
A Look Inside
We use nothing but Metal Film resistors in everything we make. The metal film resistors we use are rated at +/- 1% of their ratings. We NEVER use Carbon Film resistors in anything we design or construct.
Fitted with sealed Omeg potentiometers with conductive plastic tracks for smoother action and over twice the life of carbon track potentiometers. These pots will never dry out or require periodic lubrication or cleaning to remove dirt. This arrangement completely eliminates pot-to-PCB wiring, which is a possible point of failure and keeps induced noise to an absolute minimum. Omeg pots are the industry standard for pro-audio gear and have been manufactured in England, UK since 1958.
High quality USA Mill-Max gold plated IC sockets. Many builders do not even use sockets at all, they just solder the IC chip directly to the PCB. That is a poorly thought out practice since the IC chips are sensitive to heat. Using IC sockets keeps the actual IC chip itself completely protected from the heat of the soldering pen. The socket is soldered to the PC Board, and then the chip is installed long after the area has cooled. What's actually worse than soldering the chips in, is that even more builders use cheap Ladder Style sockets. The cheap sockets degrade your tone. While ladder type sockets cost far far less than better stuff, they also boast inferior lead contact, lower pin-to-pin resistance (which can allow crosstalk between circuits. We use nothing but Mill-Max Machine Tooled Low Profile IC sockets made in the USA. They use GOLD PLATED contacts with resistance of better than 10 Miliohms! Mill-Max is the leading supplier of interconnect components, Established in 1971 and are located in the USA.
Housed in a diecast aluminium alloy Hammond enclosure. This is lightweight and has superior sheilding properties over steel. Minimal footprint on your pedal board. Finished in high-quality gloss powder coating. Much more durable and scratch resistant than paint. It’s also safer to use and less harmful to the environment.
We use several types of capacitors in our modules: Ceramic, Film and Eloctrolitic.
From various esoteric to rare capacitor types such as Tropical Fish Caps to Wima Audio Black Box caps. We give a great emphasis on capacitor performance.
No matter which type of capacitors we use in any given portion of any given circuit, we manually test each and every capacitor to find the ones that fit within the specifications we have written into each of our design.For the most part we use capacitors made by Kemet, Nichicon, and Vishay.
Printed circuit board (PCB)
Printed circuit board (PCB) with GOLD PADS (ENIG) for high-end quality. Our new PCB design is designed to meet the best and highest standards of our high-end and audiophiles users. The gold pads provide many advantages such as shielding to stop the nickel from oxidizing in air. When it is soldered, the joint is formed with the nickel, not the copper pad. Also the board is coated with high grade solder resist and silkscreen.This is the highest cost process, but we provide only the best we can!
